Sundays At Barker | Adoption Agency Bethesda, MD | Barker Adoption Foundation

On Sunday, February 3rd twelve adoptive families with young children (under the age of three) came to Barker for our popular “Sundays at Barker” program.  Adoptive parents had the opportunity to informally meet and schmooze, and get to know other adoptive parents over bagels and coffee, while their little ones had the chance to romp and play, and explore a roomful of toys and new playmates! Barker’s Post-Adoption Director was joined by several special guests this past February:

Volunteer Sophia, a 15-year-old adopted teen in an open adoption. In addition to playing with the kids (which she loves!), she also chatted with adoptive parents about her experience growing up in an open adoption and having contact with her birth mother.

Sara Madden, a Barker board member, also came to the event to personally meet and greet the families.

We were excited to welcome a Barker “second generation” family to this event. Emily Sower, an adoptive mother, was herself adopted through Barker and later came back to the agency to adopt a child. She attended with her husband and three children, including June who they adopted in 2017.

The next session of “Sundays at Barker” will be Sunday, March 24th from 3:30-5:00 PM. Registration is already open and these events do fill up; please register early to avoid disappointment.  We hope to see you there! For more information and to register please Click Here
